The Wider VC Landscape
Why this work matters — the industry still has a long way to go
As of early 2025, women hold approximately 15.4% of partner or decision-making roles at VC firms globally.
33.7% of junior VC roles are held by women — a growing pipeline indicator for future leadership.
Nearly three-quarters of US venture capital firms do not have a single female investing partner on their team.
In 2024, 42% of new manager VC firms had at least one woman as managing partner, exceeding the 35% target.
At the current rate of improvement, gender parity in venture capital funding will not arrive until 2065.
Just over a quarter of investment professionals in UK venture capital and private equity are women. Gradual progress, but the workforce remains predominantly male.
Fewer than one in five board seats in UK VC/PE firms are held by women. Governance-level representation is slowly increasing, but leadership remains largely male-dominated.
Of $289B invested globally in 2024, only $6.7B reached female-only founding teams. All-male teams captured 83.6%.
Yente Meijers Quote
49% of Newton learners are women. My hope is that one day this ratio feels normal across venture capital, not noteworthy.

Newton's Commitment
Women continue to be underrepresented in VC roles and the gap only widens with seniority. At Newton we are proud of the role our programs play in developing female talent across the entire pipeline, providing a springboard for their VC careers.

Kelechi Achinonu Quote
Representation in venture capital does not improve by chance. It improves when intentional pathways are created for women at every stage of their careers. Every cohort we run reminds us how much talent already exists, and how limited the opportunities have been to unlock it. When you invest deliberately in building that pipeline, the industry begins to change. At Newton, we believe the future of venture needs to be built deliberately, and we are only getting started.
